I fell in love with a rose A red heavenly bloom amidst a flowery field You’ll notice it in an instant Because its blossom shies the sun And its beauty attracts a thousand bees Even the moon marvels at its wonder
When I visited the fields Its petals called out to me Like a moth onto a lamp Like sunsets and sunrises overlooking the Mara Like a blank canvas begging for art Or an empty page yearning for Steven’s fantasies
I held it in my hands And it stooped as though It didn’t notice it was the fairest of them all The irony, a pile of pretty fluff Atop some thorny thorns A perfect rose, for an imperfect love
Tough love…rose
